There’s over 20 million old smartphones sitting in Australia’s bottom drawers. Telstra wants them all recycled. So they created the 'Bring Back Bonus’, to reward recyclers with points.
But they weren’t reaching their targets. So how could we make it more engaging?
People don’t recycle their phones for three reasons:
They think it’s a piece of junk.
It’s too hard.
They don’t think it’d be recycled into anything useful.
So what if we showed them their phones are full of valuable resources? By creating gold and silver jewellery from recycled phones. The ‘Bling Back Bonus’ would teach Australia that one man’s e-waste is always full of treasure.
