Hello I’m Kate, a freelance copywriter based in Melbourne. When I was young I was lucky enough to have weird parents. My mum was an art teacher and my dad spent a lot of time in his shed inventing things he told us he was going to sell to the navy (never happened). It was the kind of house people thought fairies lived in, with art projects, chickens and musical instruments. What I’m trying to tell you is that I’m a bonafide eccentric. I was always encouraged to follow what I loved, and I loved writing so that’s what I did.
I studied English Lit and Science at Uni, a thousand years ago, then moved to London to pursue writing. I worked for Time Out, We Are Social, ITV2 Creative and a handful of TV production studios before landing a job in TV development.
In Australia, I have worked for Clemenger BBDO, CHEP and Think HQ a positive change agency. I was drawn to advertising because I loved ideas that could change culture and do good for the world. I’ve stayed because it’s damn fun.
I’m a writer first, obsessed with my craft, would be doing it anyway in any age. I think humans tell stories for survival, and we’ll never stop needing them.
So yeah, I’m passionate about what I do!
